- The Society of Genealogists' Workshop Programme features over 100 workshops over the weekend, and there is sure to be something to interest you. There are plenty of workshops which are suitable beginners covering topics such as births, marriages and deaths records, top websites, parish registers and basic concepts in DNA. Workshops which are especially suitable for beginners are highlighted on the workshop timetable on the website and in the showguide, and these sessions are presented in partnership with Who Do You Think You Are? Magazine, who will be supplying a free starter pack, including a large family tree wall chart, to everyone who attends them. Click here to view the workshop timetables.
- The Ancestry.co.uk Academy is running sessions on how to use Ancestry.co.uk if you are a beginner, so ensure you drop by and learn how to make the most of this resource.
- Visit the DNA Workshop supported by Family Tree DNA to learn about basic concepts and how science can help your research.
And of course, whatever stage you have reached in your research, you can enjoy the celebrity sessions in the Who Do You Think You Are? Theatre, take your photographs to the Truprint Photography Gallery to have them identified, dated, digitised or restored, and visit the Military Memorabilia Checkpoint with your military heirlooms, artefacts and documents to discover the stories behind them. There is also a host of exhibitors with information, products and services of general historical interest, so be sure to explore and feed your passions.
