The workshop programme is always a highlight of the event, with over 100 workshops on a variety of topics from getting started to documenting and recording your research – whatever stage of your research you have reached, there will be something to suit you.

If you're new to genealogy, don't miss the special beginner workshops, in partnership with Who Do You Think You Are? Magazine where you can collect your free starter pack. For those of you that are a bit further down the line, there will be workshops covering what to do when you have hit a brick wall, parish records and sessions specific to dedicated topics such as Irish Ancestry or Your Jewish Roots.

The more advanced genealogist can be satisfied with a range of workshops to help with those more difficult topics, such as ancestors from medieval periods and legal documents.

All workshops are subject to capacity. Workshop tickets will be available to collect free at the event. If you would like to guarantee your place in a workshop, a limited number of tickets for the SOG Workshops are available to purchase in advance at a cost of £2. The DNA Workshop and Ancestry.co.uk Academy are not ticket - seats will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis so please arrive early to avoid disappointment.
